Palm Beach Chic High/Low

This brass limited edition crocodile from Jonathan Adler pictured below was $2,500. I loved it, but not at that price. The other day my daughter and I were shopping at Z Gallerie and I spotted this gold alligator for $49.95 plus 20% off with my Z Gallerie credit card. He is right at home in my living room bookcase. These bookends are also available in silver. At 24 inches, he is very dramatic and very Palm Beach Chic/Hollywood Regency. He would also be fabulous on a cocktail table or a desk.

Chinoiserie (Happy) Chic Inspiration Board

Except for the wallpaper (Scalamandre Zebras), every item in this inspiration board is from JCPenney's new Happy Chic Collection by Jonathan Adler. I would never have guessed I could do a Chinoiserie Chic room from JCPenney!

Chinoiserie (Happy) Chic

Have you seen that Jonathan Adler has a new line for JCPenney called Happy Chic? There are lots of great looking Chinoiserie accessories. I have shown you some of my favorites here. This line is supposed to be affordable glamour for your home, and although I find the accessories well priced, I was shocked by some of the furniture prices like a chair for $1,450, a bed for $1,750, and a sofa for $1,850. The furniture seems more like regular Jonathan Adler store prices. But check out the accessories, like Greek key glasses for $5.00. The foo dog lamp above could be painted, the lampshade changed, or Greek key trim added. The fretwork duvet and Greek key napkins could be monogrammed. High end looks at budget prices. And for those non JCPenney types like me, it is all available online. ;-)

Paule Marrot Feathers Inspiration Board

I have always wanted to do a room using Paule Marrot's iconic work "Feathers" as the focal point. Here I have created a living room with a modern Crate and Barrel Aidan sofa, a pair of antique Chinese garden stools, fretwork pillows from Furbish, a Jonathan Adler pink zebra ruga black marble Saarinen cocktail table from Room and Board, and a pair of Seville chairs from Room and Board inspired by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. I could be quite happy in this living room - feminine but sophisticated, with a mix of periods and Chinoiserie, just my style. To see more of the work of French engraver, painter, and textile artist Paule Marrot (1902 - 1987), visit my Pinterest board here.
